DESCRIPTION

High-resolution print of an original Watan art piece. This piece depicts two women--Palestinian and Armenian--joined via their headdresses. Below, the words "Palestine" and "Armenia" are written in each community's official language, Arabic and Armenian.

  • I've been listening to a lot of Armenian folk music (probably my most favorite kind of music ever!), which in turn inspired the creation of this piece! I think it's important to highlight the lines of solidarity that already exist between all of our communities. This isn't to create a false perception of something that isn't there or, worse, pretend at some superficial kind of solidarity. Armenian-Palestinian solidarity has existed for decades if not centuries (after all, Armenians have lived in Palestine since the time of Jesus pbuh ayyy). So while we do the necessary work of pushing towards liberation for all of our communities, we should also celebrate the love, respect, and camaraderie between Armenians and Palestinians. That's the stuff that sustains us!

tl;dr: we cute. and we here.
