Watan offers a curated selection of new and used Palestinian books, ranging from works of non-fiction to prose, poetry to novels, and more. This offering is an extension of our Palestinian Women's Library (available for free use at our Orland Park location).
DETAILS
This encyclopedia-of-sorts compiles years of research into the origins of Palestinian families pre-1948 back to specific towns and cities therein. The book splits into two sections: one detailing the towns various families hail from and one detailing a list of notable men (sigh) who have contributed to Palestine--in various forms like politics, the arts, literature, and much more. To be clear, while hundreds if not thousands of families are included, your family might not. Even more, your family name and city might not match up to the stories you grew up with; this warrants further research into your family histories (many families have such interesting stories on the change!).
