Palestinian "Jerusalem" Print

High-resolution print of an original Watan art piece. This piece depicts a quote (mistakenly attributed to famed academic/pianist/Palestinian Edward Said) which roughly translates to: "All the world is a hotel and Jerusalem is my home."
The background is a hand-painted watercolor gradient, a palette of colors that, for some reason, remind me of the way the Dome of the Rock shines at sunrise and sunset in Jerusalem. The painted buildings surrounding the text are meant to be taken as Jerusalem and takes inspiration from the stylistic representations found in many famous paintings of Jerusalem (recall Armenian and Khalili painted pottery).

“Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift forced between a human being and a native place, between the self and its true home: its essential sadness can never be surmounted. -Edward Said”
