The Thinking Behind This Piece

High-resolution print of an original hand-painted illustration by Watan Studio, celebrating the visual language of Palestinian tatreez. Available in three colorways: Indigo, Earth, and Berry.

About the piece:

Thirty-five tatreez-inspired motifs are arranged like a patchwork quilt, each square its own small composition, linked by cross-stitch connectors into one larger whole. Birds, trees, stars, florals, and geometric borders recall the motifs found across Palestinian embroidery, a tradition where pattern, color, and placement carry meaning passed down through generations. Many of the motifs were sourced from the artist's family's villages.

Painted by hand in gouache, then scanned at high resolution to preserve the texture of the brushwork.

Choose your colorway:

  • Indigo: deep blues with white, rust, and sage accents
  • Earth: warm browns with cream, terracotta, and olive
  • Berry: rich magentas and plums with orange and cream
