Palestine Tatreez Patchwork Long Sleeve Shirt
In stock · Ships in 3-5 business days
This shirt was inspired by the tatreez (Palestinian embroidery) samplers women often make in their journey of practicing the craft and learning how to traverse sewing new motifs. The tatreez symbols featured here primarily center on an Intifada theme, taken from a few examples of preserved thobe dresses; these "Intifada dresses" exemplify the effect that the Intifada and resistance to illegal occupation left on every part of Palestinian society and life. Demonstrating against the occupation was made illegal? Palestinian women embroidered it into their dresses instead *mic drop*.

“Exile is strangely compelling to think about but terrible to experience. It is the unhealable rift forced between a human being and a native place, between the self and its true home: its essential sadness can never be surmounted. -Edward Said”
